Villas-Boas Fired!

Andre Villas-Boas, Chelsea's 34-year-old manager has been sacked by owner Roman Abramovich.

The move comes right after Chelsea's defeat at West Bromwich Albion, 0-1, a game in which Chelsea again played poorly.

Villas-Boas did a bad job at Chelsea, so I understand perfectly that he had to be let go. (And I definitely don't understand the apparent support from other PL managers, who say he was very talented.)

But if Abramovich thinks that, by firing yet another coach and keeping the incompetent lot of players currently on Chelsea's roster, he will solve Chelsea's woes, he really is dumb, as far as football is concerned.

Both he and Villas-Boas proved their lack of knowledge by trying to press on for so long with just the current squad. Chelsea needs a vast retooling, clearly.

There were words that AVB would have been fired if Chelsea had failed to eliminate Napoli, in the Champions League.
Abramovich did not have that much patience left, though. interestingly enough. And, thus, it will be even more interesting to see if Chelsea will manage to do anything interesting in the second leg of the CL encounter, without that kind of pressure (which might have been good for the team).
