It's Started!

A new season of MLS has started.

What's this, though? 10 teams in the Eastern Conference and only 9 in the Western?

There's a new team - Montreal Impact, which raises the number of Canadian teams in Major League Soccer to 3 - but the same old format.
By "same old format", I mean that there's still a play-off ending to the round-robin format. I understand that they do that in every sport in The States, so it stands to reason that they're also going to introduce it in MLS, but the reward for the most consistent team in the league (throughout the regular season) is practically non-existent, compared to the team that reaches peak form (and sometimes also gets lucky enough) during the play-offs.

But, other than this unfair way of having the champion determined, MLS matches are almost always fun to watch. Despite splitting the teams into conferences.
