Colombia on Their Merry Way

Even Valderrama, the Colombian football star of that famous '90s Colombian generation, admitted that this Colombian team now is better than his.

Well, if that doesn't raise Colombian expectation, I don't know what would.

But Jose Pekerman's squad responded to these expectations in style, calmly dispatching of the Greek challenge with maximum efficiency.

One goal within the first five minutes (Pablo Armero) set the South Americans on their way. And they never looked back.
Early in the second half, Gutierrez showed great agility and awareness to tap in another ball not followed properly by the Greek defense. And star striker James Rodriguez put the icing on the cake deep in injury time.

And they have an extremely easy group here. Greece was actually their best-ranked opponent, so Colombia should already be looking forward to an extended stay at this tournament.
