Amazing Costa Rica! Or Extremely Poor Uruguay?!

After a first half in which they took the lead through a penalty, very much like Spain, Uruguay, another semifinalist at the 2010 World Cup, also suffered a meltdown in the second half, not too dissimilar to Spain's.

This time, the opponent, however, was tiny Costa Rica, a nation of under 5 million people, whose national team was expected to lose all three matches in this group before the World Cup started. Not Netherlands.

Uruguay surely has no excuse for this one. Not like the excuse the Spanish can invoke.

Conceding three goals in half an hour, to tiny minnows Costa Rica, puts Uruguay's World-Cup-2014 future in serious jeopardy, with matches against England and Italy to follow.

Are the Uruguayans the weakest South American team to make it to this World Cup? The weakest team in this group? Are they out, pretty much, or will they be out at the group stage? We will see soon. But it's not looking good for them.
