One team from Madrid won a cup this year.
Atletico Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao, 3-0, in Bucharest, in the final of this year 's Europa League.
The win came largely thanks to the brilliant goals of Radamel Falcao, in the first half (in minutes 7 and 34), who made the Bilbao defenders look like amateurs.
Falcao was declared the man of the match. No surprise there.
But Athletic's defense really wasn't up to par in this one match.
Diego showed that maybe Falcao's mission was made a lot easier by the performances of the opposing defenders, by ridiculing them one more time, with five minutes left in the match, to score Atletico's third goal.
I, and probably a lot of other people, too, expected much better from Athletic Bilbao.
