What a Huge Fuck-Up by AC Milan!

This was very unexpected.

A couple of matchdays ago, Juventus blew Fiorentina away, 5-0, in Firenze.
Who would have thought Fiorentina would come to the Giuseppe Meazza and beat Juventus' rival, AC Milan, away from home, only two weeks later?

Milan led at half-time, thanks to Ibrahimovic's penalty (in minute 31).
But, in the second half, Jovetic (47) and Amauri (89) showed great composure to put away two fine goals as the Milan defense was crumbling down around them.

A stunned Milan stadium thus witnessed an AC breakdown not often seen in recent seasons, and the Milan fans had yet another unpleasant surprise to deal with, 3 1/2 hours later, when it became clear that Juventus would beat Palermo and reached top spot in the Serie A again. (The final score in Palermo was 0-2.)

Finally...

It's a big day for Juventus.

Finally, they get a win.

And what a win, too! 5-0, way from home, in Firenze.

Everything went perfect for Juve. 2 goals in the first half, 3 in the second half, and Fiorentina had absolutely no response on the pitch.
Five different goalscorers: Vucinic, Vidal, Marchisio, Pirlo and Padoin.

At long last, there's one team over which Juventus did the double this season.

But Milan also won, so Juventus does not gain any ground as far as points totals are concerned. (It's more of a moral victory.)

Oh, the Humiliation!

I thought the loss against Novara was the lowest inter Milan could sink.

But, ha, ha, it got worse! Bologna, the team that provided inter with their first win, at the start of the season, took their revenge by winning 3-0 at the San Siro today.

And I suppose inter's title chances are practically zero now. (Ranieri still refuses to step down, by the way, though.)

inter had some good chances, but Gillet was just outstanding in Bologna's goal.

Di Vaio scored two in two minutes, during the first half, while Acquafresca put the icing on the cake with five minutes to go by taking on the entire inter defense and making all the players in it look ridiculous (and then his finish did the same to Julio Cesar).

This loss, in tandem with Napoli's same-scoreline win at Firenze, means that Napoli is now fifth in the standings (although Roma could claim that position with a win at home against Parma).

From now on, since the difference between inter Milan and the leader(s) is more than 10 points, and will probably grow over the weekend, I will pay no special attention to their matches, and thus scorers and highlights in matches featuring inter will be overlooked, unless they face a genuine title contender (or close the points gap).

None of the Top Five

In Italy, those teams belonging to the top five in the standings that played at home drew, while those that played away lost.

What a matchday!

Lazio sucked at Genoa, in the early game, proving that they only play well against teams that compete with inter, and then inter themselves lost at Roma, 4-0 (Ha! Ha!), and Udinese also conceded defeat at Fiorentina, 2-3, just like Lazio.

On the other hand, Juventus and Milan could not score goals on their home fields, and their games both ended in 0-0, against Siena (wow, for shame, Juve!) and Napoli, respectively.

Napoli looked presentable against Milan, but still they linger in 7th place, which is quite a weak performance from a team who is still in contention for the Champions League.

On a loosely-related note, Allegri believes Milan can catch Juventus. Well, duh! It's not like Milan is 15 points behind! Of course, Milan can still catch Juventus. Especially given how Juventus drops points at home every second home matchday.
